I’m Fiona, and this is my recipe blog to serve as the delicious merging of my seemingly incompatible passions for vegetables and dessert. I’m determined to make you see how easy it is to slip a serving of vegetables into your favorite sweet treat! Many of my recipes are gluten free, vegan, nut free, low sugar and soy free.
My interest in food started at a young age, I have been interested in dessert from pretty much day 1 when I became an expert cake critic. In my mid to late toddler years I dabbled with lemonade stands featuring home baked cookies, and even got a chance to learn from a professional pastry chef at age 7 at the small Inn my family ran in Ballinskelligs, Ireland. Later I had fun hosting dinner parties for my friends and peers at Trinity College in Dublin where I got my bachelors degree. I often made zucchini brownies and had everyone guess the secret ingredient (they never guessed a vegetable) I’ve always been happy to entertain and make food for friends!
During college I interned at Fairtrade Ireland and learned all about ethical sourcing of food and ingredients, and got the chance to meet and talk with farmers responsible for cocoa, sugar, bananas, and many other delicious ingredients that make their way into my recipes.
Summers in college were spent at my parents house in seaside Connecticut where I was a waitress at a five star restaurant and got exposure to fine dining and food foraging.
After college my job as an event coordinator at a catering company meant I got to talk about food all day long!
My spare time is spent in the kitchen, in a yoga class, reading a good book, going on nature walks, and making travel plans to visit friends or explore somewhere new!
I hope you are inspired to try some of my hidden vegetable recipes so that you too can enjoy dessert without the guilt!
